Fall 2017: /c LAW is happy to welcome Mickaël Tome and Claire Denoual as new associates. Post-graduate in European Law (Paris), Mickaël is a former agent with the Luxembourg and French Data Protection Authorities (CNPD & CNIL). He also previously gained experience as in-house counsel in the French branch of a pharma group. Post-graduate from the well-known CEIPI, Claire joined from the IP, Communication & Technology practice of the largest Luxembourg law firm. She combines 9 years-experience in IP & IT, including as in trademark attorney firm where she started her career.

1.10.2017: the new EU trademark Regulation fully enters into force. Among others, new type of trademarks (such as multimedia, hologram or certification trademarks) can be registered. The EUIPO publishes a smart video that help understanding the related changes in a nutshell.

12.9.2017: Luxembourg publishes bill No 7184 to amend the current data protection legislation to make it compliant with GDPR. This bill aims at reinforcing the investigation and sanction powers of the Luxembourg Data Protection Authority (CNPD). It also takes some options for specific processing in the field of research, healthcare and freedom of speech where GDPR lets some room to Member States. At this stage, the restrictive legal framework applicable to the monitoring of employees is not repealed. Don't hesitate to contact us for any questions.

31 August 2016: Luxembourg simplifies the regime applicable to certain acts of data protection processing, in particular ‘monitoring’ and combination of data. When adopted, this reform will replace the prior authorization regime with a simple notification to CNPD, the Luxembourg data protection authority. CNPD’s restrictive policy for these acts of processing will continue to apply however. Cyril is at your disposal for questions.

29 August 2016: Bill #7024 has been filed with the Luxembourg Parliament. This reform will add exceptions to the strict professional secrecy framework and simplify in particular IT outsourcing in the financial sector. Cyril is at your disposal for questions.
